In this companion interview to his Bach Project performance at the Odeon in Athens, Yo-Yo Ma discusses his six-decade relationship with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and describes the listener's journey through the Six Solo Cello Suites. Yo-Yo Ma explains how Bach used the listener's ear and their natural knowledge and subconscious understanding of music to construct this work for the cello and reflects on how the magic of the suites invites participation mentally, emotionally and spiritually to help people find comfort in the music.
