First presented in December 1892, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker is one of the most beloved ballets today. On Christmas Eve, a young girl has a dream. An emotional awakening of childhood that slowly merges into adulthood. While children revel in Drosselmeyer’s magic tricks and enjoy a good scare with the apparition of the Mouse King, the adults admire the transformative narrative and virtuosity of the choreography performed by the world-renowned classical company, the Ballet Company of the National Opera of Ukraine with the Orchestra and Chorus of the National Opera of Ukraine led by Oleksiy Baklan. Recorded in 2018 at the historic Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, this performance marks the first time the Company returned to Paris since the last tour to this city in 1964.
